The Force Awakens Extra Credit

Wednesday night, I spread out my baking materials, eager to try my hand at making some stormtrooper cupcakes. Amidst bags of frosting, littered cupcake liners, and concerns of food poisoning, I carefully assembled my confection: a chocolate cupcake topped with white icing and a stormtrooper helmet (marshmallows with straggly black lines of frosting). I wanted to create a representation of Finn's Home Culture, the first step of the Hero's Journey. The stark white icing and marshmallows created the "perfect" embodiments of stoic and characterless stormtroopers (my icing technique was far from flawless). I then placed all 24 cupcakes in neatly lined rows, which I felt was appropriate to represent the lack of free thought and individuality in the First Order. Finn felt compelled to participate in this culture, his doubts grew. Blog Justification Paragraph

The majority of the theme is turquoise, the mixture of green and blue. I specifically wanted to use this color because I wanted my blog to express both elements of green and blue. Green, the color of “environmental awareness” and “harmony” is both a literal and figurative representation of my love for science (Wright par. 8). Blue, on the other hand, is “the color of clear communication”, and perfectly represents my goal of trying to communicate effectively through my writing (Wright par. 5). The main background image of my blog is a picture of sea waves hitting a beach. The waves in picture reflect another element of serenity, but of course, the sea is not always calm. Tides are constantly changing --sometimes predictable and other times erratic-- and I want my writing to be as dynamic and powerful as the ocean.
